FORTIFIED roof EVALUATOR™

Why Fortified™?

STRONGER EDGES

The initial stages of roof damage often occur when powerful winds penetrate beneath the roof edge, causing it to detach from the house. To fortify this susceptible area, FORTIFIED™ mandates the use of specific materials and installation techniques. These include a wider drip edge and a fully adhered starter strip, which, when combined, establish a more robust system.

SEALED ROOF DECK

If wind rips off your roof covering―such as shingles, metal panels or tiles―it exposes the wood beneath and allows water to pass through the gaps and enter your home. FORTIFIED™ requires roof decks to be sealed to prevent this type of water damage.

BETTER ATTACHMENT

Instead of utilizing ordinary smooth nails, FORTIFIED™ requires the use of ring-shank nails that are installed in an improved pattern. This modification helps to firmly anchor the roof deck to your home during high winds. In fact, employing ring-shank nails nearly doubles the roof's strength against powerful wind forces.

IMPACT-RESISTANT SHINGLES

In areas prone to hailstorms, FORTIFIED™ mandates the use of shingles that have been tested by IBHS to demonstrate their ability to withstand hailstones up to 2 inches in diameter. These specially tested shingles outperform typical Class 4 shingles when subjected to realistic hailstones and provide superior protection for your home.
